Puthiyangadi, like other
places in Kerala, is well-known for the religious harmony maintained by its natives.
Muslim, Christian, Hindu worship places situating in every corner of this village.
Some of them were built hundreds of years ago. Some of them reconstructed
later. Here you can see some photographs and their description. More

PUTHIYANGADI JUMA MASJID
Puthiyangadi
Juma Masjid, built about 500 years ago, is one of the oldest Mosques in Madayi.
It is located in the heart of Puthiyangadi, as it is located in the junction in
which all important roads of puthiyangadi meets. For decades this area was the
cultural and social center of Puthiyangadi. Many educational institutes like the
Madayi Government Mapila Upper Primary School, Puthiyangadi Izzatul Islam Madrassa etc, is
located here. This Masjid was rebuilt in 1980 by the people of Puthiyangadi both local and
abroad.
PUTHIYANGADI YASEEN JUMA MASJID
Yaseen
Juma Masjid is situated at "Maannare Valappu". It is the southern
part of Puthiyangadi. This area was sparsely populated many years ago.
The mosque was just a temporay shed made by some people of this locality, but later they
built a small mosque which was named Yaseen Masjid. Later this mosque was
reconstructed and commenced Juma Prayers.
THALAKKALE
MASJID (THALAKKALE PALLI)
Thalekkale pally (Thalakkale Masjid) built hundreds of years ago. In
this masjid, there had been a "darss" and a madrassa. Later these Islamic
learning centres tranfered to Puthiyangadi Juma Masjid. The Thalakkale Pally
reconstructed 40years before by the People of puthiyangadi.
RIFAYI
MASJID (MOOSAN MOULAR PALLI)
This mosque is located in Chalil area - Beach Road. This place was an
unpopulated area till 1975. The mosque treated Those family lived around this
mosque. People whose occupation was related to the sea often used to bath this mosque's
well. This masjid also called as "Moosan Moularkanta Pally".
UTHARAM MASJID (UTHARAM PALLI)
Utharam pally is maintained by the Puthiyangadi Muslim Jama
ath committee. This Mosque was built hundreds of years ago. There is a tomb
(Maqbara), which is situated near to the masjid. The believers of all community believes
this tomb as sacred. The Utharam Mosque was reconstructed about 50 years ago. This mosque
is situated in Puthiyangadi "ettammel" near to the Jama- ath high school.
MOHIYUDHEEN MASJID (MOIDEEN PALLY)
The Mohiyudheen mosque is situated in "angadi". It
is the first mosque in Puthiyangadi which was rebuilt with concrete roof. On the
birthday of Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), there is a ceremony in which free food is distributed
to all the Puthiyangadians. The place, where this mosque is situated is also considered as
the 'end point' of Angadi.
